From What We Lost in Memphis

Hello,

This is your friendly neighborhood Charlie Wolf.

As I sit here, writing and listening to Cat Stevens when I should be working, I wonder if we’ll go further in Song Fu.  I wonder if my supervisor will notice I’m not actually doing anything.

But, most importantly, I wonder if all this is worth it.

Is it worth it to me? Sure, there’s no doubt about that.

But making an album is not free, and while we have some incredibly generous friends who are donating studio time and graphic design, I’m putting out my own money here, and I can only wonder if people will listen.

Of course people will hear our album, if only a few people, but will people listen? Will people understand what we have to say?

I don’t know.

So I’m asking you, our fans, our friends for two things…

The first is obvious.

Donate! If you can only donate $3, send it in. It will really make this easier for all of us financially. You can paypal any donations to charlie@muspell.org.

The second is—talk to us. Would you listen to our album… Would you buy it? if so, how much would you pay for it? Email us at us@milesfromnashville.com with your thoughts…. That’s all. I just want to know what people think.

Yours,

Charlie Wolf

Michael is obviously posessed. Charlie is obviously not. Jonathan Coulton is awesome.

Recording! Pie! Pie? Pie!

While Michael is in that city we all know and love—Oakhurst, CA—writing lyrics, I’m here at the recording studio, laying down guitar and vocal tracks….

And I just ate some lemon meringue pie, which was tasty.

Also, I am stuck on the idea that “Every Day After Oklahoma” should be the title of our next song. This is all.

Also, Michael needs to call me regarding a band issue.

Yours,

-charlie

Michael’s update

I have been on a roll lately with lyrics. Some of them are the kind of lyrics MFN fans will know as our normal style, but some of them are a brand new style . I’m sure you will fully enjoy them. You will not hear any of them on our first album. We have that set list pretty much set up.

Miles from Nashville: Fact? Fiction? Bizzare Urban Legend Told Only In Zimbabwe?

Miles from Whatville?

Miles from Nashville is composed of the following ingredients:

Charlie Wolf was born in Nova Scotia in 1899, which is pretty amazing considering he’s never been to Nova Scotia and he’s 16. Writing all the music for Miles from Nashville songs, and some of the lyrics, Charlie Wolf currently lives in the Magical Land of Los Angeles™, with his imaginary wife and two imaginary children. Due to a strange turn of events, Charlie Wolf is not the messiah anymore.

Michael J Ruhland was named “Ruhland of the Year” for 6 years in a row by Ruhland magazine. He writes a lot of Miles from Nashville lyrics and also lives in the Magical Land of Los Angeles, although he doesn’t get the cool little trademark symbol because he lives in the poor part of The Magical Land of Los Angeles. Just kidding. His family owns 11 cars, and he can’t drive any of them because they all have a stick shift. This is obviously a conspiracy.

In other news, we’ll (meaning, of course, me, Charlie, and Michael as soon as he gets a new e-mail address) be trying to post a lot more on our website, to make it marginally more interesting.

I hope you enjoyed this informational piece. Now damn you to hell.
